Instructions

  • 1.   In a saucepan, heat the margarine or olive oil over medium heat without browning
  • 2.   Add the flour and stir with a whisk to obtain a roux. Let it cook for a few minutes while stirring
  • 3.   Reduce the heat and gradually pour in the water while whisking to eliminate lumps
  • 4.   Bring the sauce to a boil while stirring constantly for about 3 to 5 minutes until it thickens.
  • 5.   Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat.
