Homemade "Nutella" Spread with Thermomix

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Roast 250g (8.8 oz) of hazelnuts for 7 to 10 minutes (watch carefully!)
  • 2.   Meanwhile, blend 170g (6 oz) of sugar and 10g (0.35 oz) of vanilla sugar into powdered sugar for 20 seconds/speed 10.
  • 3.   At the end of the hazelnuts' cooking time, transfer them to a damp cloth (Note: it may stain; if you care about your cloth, give it a quick wash with Marseille soap before putting it in the washing machine!). Close the cloth and gently massage the hazelnuts through the fabric. The goal is to remove the skin for a smoother texture and taste! But it doesn't have to be perfect, some hazelnuts will keep their skin, and that's okay.
  • 4.   Add the still warm hazelnuts to the powdered sugar in the Thermomix bowl, then blend for 2 minutes/speed 6.
  • 5.   Now add all the other ingredients and blend again for 2 minutes/speed 6.
  • 6.   The spread will thicken a bit as it cools. It can be stored in a pantry (or in the fridge if you prefer a firmer texture) for several weeks!
