Red Lentil and Potato Dhal

Instructions

  • 1.   Start this recipe for potato and red lentil dhal by peeling and chopping the garlic and onion. Rinse, deseed, and chop the chili pepper. Peel, rinse, and cut the potatoes into very small cubes.
  • 2.   Heat oil in a sauté pan. Sauté the onion, garlic, chili pepper, and all the spices for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the potatoes and cook for another 3 minutes. Add the lentils, coconut milk, tomatoes, a little salt, and enough water to cover. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  • 3.   Adjust the seasoning if needed, add the juice of the lime, and serve with coriander, basmati rice, and Indian flatbreads.

  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 canned crushed tomatoes
  • 150 g of red lentil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 small red chili pepper
  • 1 lime
  • 20 cl of coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon of curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon of spice
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 3 sprig of fresh coriander (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut oil
  • salt (according to taste)
