Beginner Baguette

Easy-to-make baguette with a white crumb.

Instructions

  • 1.   Mix the flour with the salt and gradually add the water until you obtain a dough.
  • 2.   Knead the dough, adding the baking powder to mix it well.
  • 3.   Shape the baguettes on parchment paper on a baking sheet.
  • 4.   Bake them at 40°C (104°F) for 20 minutes to make them rise.
  • 5.   Brush the baguettes with water.
  • 6.   Increase the temperature to 220°C (428°F) and bake for 30 minutes with a pan filled with water underneath.
  • 7.   When they are golden brown, remove the baguettes from the oven and let them cool on a rack.

Notes & Suggestions

  • The ratio of flour to water depends on the type of flour used. The more whole grain it is, the more water is needed.
