Crumpets (England)

Instructions

  • 1.   Dissolve the baker's yeast in warm water (not hot to avoid "killing" the yeast) and let it rest for about ten minutes.
  • 2.   Mix the flour with the baking powder. Make a well and pour in the dissolved baker's yeast.
  • 3.   Add the milk and salt. Knead for about 3 minutes until the dough is smooth.
  • 4.   Place a buttered flan ring on a non-stick pan and heat it up. Fill the ring with the dough, about 3/4 full.
  • 5.   Let it cook for 3 minutes until the surface of the crumpet is covered in bubbles, then remove the ring and flip the crumpet to cook the other side.
  • 6.   Serve hot with a little bit of butter or jam!
