White radish gratin with béchamel sauce

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • 2.   Cut 8 cm long slices from the white radish.
  • 3.   Cut the slices into small pieces.
  • 4.   Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  • 5.   Add the radish and simmer until tender.
  • 6.   Prepare the béchamel sauce by melting the butter in another saucepan.
  • 7.   Add the flour and mix.
  • 8.   Add the milk and a pinch of nutmeg.
  • 9.   Season with salt and pepper, then mix everything together.
  • 10.   Simmer while stirring regularly until the mixture thickens.
  • 11.   Roll the tender radish pieces in slices of ham.
  • 12.   Place them in a lightly buttered baking dish.
  • 13.   Pour the béchamel sauce over them and sprinkle with grated gruyère cheese.
  • 14.   Bake and let it gratin.
