Leek, Carrot, and Bacon Gratin

Instructions

  • 1.   Cook the bacon slices in a pan, without any fat.
  • 2.   Once they are grilled and starting to curl, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels.
  • 3.   Finely chop the leeks and dice the carrots into small pieces, then rinse them under cold water.
  • 4.   Add a little butter to the pan and sauté the vegetables until they are golden brown. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 5.   In a saucepan over low heat, mix the carton of cream with a pinch of ginger, 50g of butter, and cornstarch, along with salt and pepper.
  • 6.   In a small gratin dish, arrange the vegetables and pour the contents of the saucepan over them (the vegetables should not be completely submerged).
  • 7.   Place the bacon slices on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes.
  • 8.   After 10 minutes of cooking, sprinkle grated cheese over the surface.
