Chili con carne (19.73)

Chili con carne is a perfect dish: it's inexpensive, can be stored for several days, and can be quickly reheated for last-minute guests!

Instructions

  • 1.   Slice the onions and dice the red bell pepper (or carrots). Mince the garlic.
  • 2.   In a thick-bottomed pot, heat a little oil. Add the vegetables and sauté them for a few minutes.
  • 3.   Add the ground meat and cook it for a few more minutes, breaking it up with a fork.
  • 4.   Add to the cooked meat/vegetable mixture: crushed tomatoes, bouquet garni (or bouillon cube), spices, and salt. Let it simmer covered for half an hour. Add the cans of drained but unrinsed red beans and corn, and let it finish cooking for about fifteen minutes, while keeping an eye on it. Adjust the seasoning. Add a glass of water if necessary.
  • 5.   Serve hot, drizzled with sour cream (optional, but useful if the dish is spicy) at the last moment.
    You can serve the chili with small triangular tacos on top.

  • 1 corn (small can)
  • 500 g of tomato coulis
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch of sweet paprika
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
