1. Wash and separate the endives and cook them in boiling water.
Drain the endives and set them aside.
2. Wash, peel, and crush the garlic. In a saucepan, add a knob of butter, crushed garlic, fresh cream, salt, and pepper.
Melt all the ingredients together and let them cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
3. In an ovenproof dish, arrange the endives and place the ham slices and cream mixture on top.
4. Sprinkle grated gruyere cheese over all the endives.
5. Place in the oven and cook for 30 minutes at 210°C (410°F).
6. Enjoy the creamy ham and endives when the endives are nicely gratinated.
