Russian salad with homemade mayonnaise

Easy to prepare and incredibly tasty, this Russian salad is an essential classic! Very similar to our famous macédoine, this salad combines carrots, potatoes, peas, all bound together by a creamy homemade mayonnaise. Here we added a hard-boiled egg and tuna for protein, but you can also use ham, for example! It's a perfect recipe to accompany a barbecue or to take on a picnic :-)

Instructions

  • 1.   Cook the potatoes, carrots, and egg in a pot of salted water. Remove the egg after 10 minutes, the carrots after 15 minutes, and the potatoes after 20 minutes.
  • 2.   Meanwhile, prepare the homemade mayonnaise: Put the egg, lemon juice, and salt in a blender.
  • 3.   Blend everything without lifting the blender from the bottom of the glass. Meanwhile, gradually add the oil until the mayonnaise reaches the desired consistency. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  • 4.   Once the potatoes and carrots are cooked and cooled, remove the skins, cut them into equal-sized pieces, and place them in a bowl.
  • 5.   Add the peas and crumbled tuna to the bowl.
  • 6.   Then add the egg, previously peeled and cut into small pieces.
  • 7.   Add the homemade mayonnaise to the mixture and mix well until all the ingredients are well coated.
  • 8.   Let the salad rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.
  • 9.   Enjoy your meal!
