Hot Dog

The hot dog, or "chien chaud" in French, is an American specialty that is now, along with the hamburger, one of the most consumed snacks in the world. However, its recipe varies from one corner of the globe to another depending on the eating habits of each country. It is prepared with sauerkraut in Germany or Belgium, and with lettuce in France.

Instructions

  • 1.   To start, prepare the cooking of the hot dog sausages. Also, heat water in a large enough saucepan to hold all the sausages you will need.
  • 2.   Also prepare the cooking of the hot dog buns. To do this, preheat the oven to 90°C (190°F).
  • 3.   Peel the onions and cut them into thin slices.
  • 4.   In a frying pan, put the oil and the onions. Cover and cook gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spatula until the onions are properly colored and slightly caramelized.
  • 5.   Wash your lettuce and cut it into thin slices as well.
  • 6.   Open on one side lengthwise. Put the pieces of bread in the oven to warm them up, for about 10 minutes.
  • 7.   Dip the sausages in the boiling water for 10 minutes.
  • 8.   Take the bread out of the oven, line with lettuce, add the cooked onions inside. Add the sausages and spread mustard. Close the bread and enjoy your delicious hot dogs.
