Alsatian Burger and Fries

Fast & easy
Course: Main course
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 25 minutes

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat your oven to 240°C (464°F).
  • 2.   Potatoes (you can replace half with sweet potatoes)
Cut the potatoes into fries shape (about 1 cm) and place them on a baking sheet without overlapping too much. Drizzle with olive oil, herbs (rosemary!), salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until they are well cooked and golden brown: Flip them halfway through cooking and put the oven on grill for 5 minutes at the end of cooking to brown them nicely.
  • 3.   Caramelized Onion
In a sauté pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat and sauté the minced onion with sugar for 10 to 15 minutes until caramelized. Stir occasionally.
  • 4.   Munster Cheese and Buns
    Slice the munster cheese.
Open the burger buns in half.
  • 5.   Steaks
In a pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil (unless it is non-stick) over high heat.
Sear the steaks for 1 to 3 minutes on each side, depending on desired meat doneness. Season with salt and pepper at the end of cooking.
  • 6.   Assemble the Burgers
A little before serving and when the fries are almost ready, place the burger buns in the oven for 5 minutes to warm them up.
Remove them from the oven and place a steak on the base of each bun, then spread mustard, the slices of munster cheese, and caramelized onion.
For a gooey cheese, put the burger back in the oven for 2 to 3 minutes.
Remove from the oven, close with the top of the bun. Serve with the fries.
