Chocolate Fondant with Hazelnut Cream

Chocolate fondant is a dessert that is hard not to love. Soft, slightly shiny, and above all very indulgent, we adore it for dessert or as a snack, and we always want more! And the great thing about it is that you can customize it and innovate with tempting variations. Here, fill it with hazelnut cream for an ultra indulgent cake!

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • 2.   Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
  • 3.   In a bowl, vigorously whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until the mixture becomes pale and frothy. Slowly incorporate the flour (preferably sifted to avoid lumps).
  • 4.   Cut the chocolate and butter into pieces. Melt them in a double boiler or in the microwave. Pour this mixture into the bowl and mix well.
  • 5.   Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form with a pinch of salt, then gently fold them into the batter, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
  • 6.   Pour the batter into a buttered or non-stick cake pan, and bake for 30 minutes, checking for doneness.
  • 7.   Let your chocolate fondant cool, then remove it from the pan and slice it horizontally (like a sandwich). Spread hazelnut cream on the inside and carefully close the cake without breaking it.
  • 8.   Enjoy!
