Beef Empanadas (baked) / Argentinean meat turnovers

"Empanadas" are small turnovers typical of Argentinean cuisine. "Empanadas" can be enjoyed on any occasion.

Instructions

  • 1.   Step 1:
  • 2.   Sauté the chopped onion in butter. Add tablespoons of tomato paste and ground beef. Cook until the meat changes color. Remove from heat and add chopped olives, chopped hard-boiled egg, sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin. Mix everything together and let the filling rest in the refrigerator. The filling is better the next day. Step 2:
  • 3.   Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Cut circles in the dough (12 cm in diameter) using a cookie cutter or a bowl, and fill them. Make sure to seal them well so the filling doesn't escape. Brush with an egg yolk and... Voilà! Bake for 15 minutes.

  • 2 pure butter puff pastry
  • 1 onion
  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 3 tablespoon of tomato pulp
  • 1 butter
  • ½ sugar
  • 1 pinch of sweet paprika
  • 1 pinch of ground cumin
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
