California Sushi (Inside-out roll)

Instructions

  • 1.   Rice preparation:
  • 2.   Rinse the rice with cold water until the water runs clear. Let it drain.
  • 3.   Cook the rice in 15 cl of water: bring to a boil for 2 minutes and let it simmer for 10 minutes covered on low heat. Let it cool.
  • 4.   Boil the rice vinegar with sugar and salt. Let it cool. Mix the seasoning with the rice.
  • 5.   Roll preparation:
  • 6.   Slice the cucumber and avocado into thin, long strips.
  • 7.   Spread 1 cm of rice on each sheet of nori.
  • 8.   Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • 9.   Flip the nori sheet (so that the rice ends up on the outside of the roll) and spread a little wasabi.
  • 10.   Fill with cucumber, avocado, and crab, then roll to form the roll (easier if you have a makisu: a bamboo rolling mat).
  • 11.   Cut each roll into 8 pieces.

Ingredients for servings

  • ½ avocados
  • ½ cucumbers
  • 8 surimis
  • 2 leaf of Nori seaweed
  • 1 pinch of sesame seed
  • 125 g of round rice
  • 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 pinch of wasabi
  • 1 pinch of sweet soy sauce
