Shepherd's Pie is a dish made with mashed potatoes and minced beef. This gratin is named after the apothecary, Antoine Parmentier, who, convinced that the tuber could effectively combat famine, had it tasted by Louis XVI.

Instructions

  • 1.   Chop the onion and garlic.
    Sauté them in butter until tender.
  • 2.   Add the minced meat, salt, and pepper.
  • 3.   When everything is cooked, remove from heat. Mix well.
  • 4.   Preheat the oven to 200°C (thermostat 6-7).
    Spread the meat mixture at the bottom of a gratin dish. Prepare the mashed potatoes. Spread them on top of the meat. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake until golden brown.

  • 600 g of potato
  • 30 cl of semi-skimmed milk
  • 10 g of butter
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 100 g of grated emmental
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
