Braised chicken with chickpeas and tomatoes

Instructions

  • 1.   Slice the onion and garlic. Drain the chickpeas. Finely chop the onion.
  • 2.   In a Dutch oven, heat the olive oil. Brown the chicken pieces on each side for 5 minutes over medium heat. Set them aside.
  • 3.   Add the garlic and onion to the Dutch oven. Sauté for 3 minutes until they are translucent.
  • 4.   Add the spices and mix well.
  • 5.   Pour in the crushed tomatoes and broth. Mix and bring to a gentle boil.
  • 6.   Return the chicken to the Dutch oven and add the chickpeas. Cover and let simmer for 25 minutes over low heat.
  • 7.   Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil in a saucepan and cook the wheat.

  • 400 g of crushed tomato
  • 400 g of chickpeas (canned, drained weight)
  • 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch of parsley
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 200 ml of chicken broth
  • 300 g of wheat
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
