Baked dumplings & salad

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat the oven to 375°F. Prepare the béchamel sauce. In a saucepan, add the butter. Melt it over low heat. Add the flour and quickly mix with a whisk.
  • 2.   Gradually add the milk, stirring, until you get a slightly thick pancake batter-like texture. Season with salt, pepper, and add a little grated nutmeg (optional), then mix. Set aside off the heat.
  • 3.   Butter the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Place the dumplings in it, spacing them out to allow them to puff up during cooking.
  • 4.   Cover the dumplings with the béchamel sauce, then sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake for 30 minutes at 375°F.
  • 5.   Once the dumplings are nicely golden and gratinated, remove the dish from the oven. Serve them on a plate with a green salad seasoned to your liking. It's ready!

  • 30 g of butter
  • 30 g of wheat flour
  • 225 ml of whole milk
