Greek-style chicken gyro sandwich with pita bread

Instructions

  • 1.   Start this gyro recipe by zesting and juicing 1 lemon and mixing them with 2 yogurts. Add 2 peeled, deveined, and pressed garlic cloves, paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well. Cut the chicken fillets into cubes and coat them with the previous mixture. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • 2.   Slice the onion. Dice the cucumber into small cubes. Slice the tomatoes. Chop the parsley.
  • 3.   Squeeze the other lemon. Mix the juice, the remaining yogurt, and the last pressed garlic clove. Season with salt and pepper. Add 1 teaspoon of cucumber and a little parsley.
  • 4.   Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan and sauté the drained chicken for 12 minutes until it is well cooked.
  • 5.   Warm the pita bread in the oven at 150 °C for 10 minutes.
  • 6.   Place a lettuce leaf in each bread, then the chicken, tomatoes, onions, cucumber, and parsley. Serve with the cucumber sauce.

  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 6 tablespoon of olive oil
