Instructions

  • 1.   Peel the onions and slice them thinly.
  • 2.   Melt the butter in a saucepan and sauté the onions for a few minutes until golden.
  • 3.   Sprinkle the onions with flour, mix well, and cook for 30 seconds.
  • 4.   Season with salt and pepper, then pour in the broth. Cover and cook for 30 minutes.
  • 5.   Pour the soup into 4 individual oven-safe bowls.
  • 6.   Place slices of country bread on top of the soup, sprinkle with grated Gruyère cheese, and broil for a few minutes.
  • 7.   Serve immediately.
