UNRULY DAUPHINOIS GRATIN

Instructions

  • 1.   Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • 2.   Peel the potatoes and garlic cloves. Slice them finely.
  • 3.   Pour the milk, nutmeg, and salt into a saucepan. Bring to a boil while watching carefully. Once it starts simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the potatoes. Cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
  • 4.   Butter the bottom of a gratin dish, then pour in the potatoes and milk. Spread the garlic evenly. Pour the cream over the top, then bake for 60 minutes.
  • 5.   Serve hot, optionally accompanied by cold cuts or smoked fish.
