Instructions

  • 1.   Blanch, peel, remove the seeds, and slice the tomatoes thinly.
  • 2.   Drain and slice the mozzarella balls thinly.
  • 3.   Toast the slices of country bread in a toaster or under the broiler in the oven, placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • 4.   Once the bread slices are toasted, let them cool to room temperature.
  • 5.   When they are cool, peel the garlic.
  • 6.   Preheat (or keep) the oven on the broil setting.
  • 7.   Rub the garlic on one side of each toasted bread slice. Sprinkle with marjoram and a drizzle of olive oil. Place the toasted bread slices on the baking sheet, still lined with parchment paper, with the "garlic" side facing up.
  • 8.   Arrange the tomato slices, peppers, mozzarella slices, and olives on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 9.   Place the baking sheet under the broiler in the oven and cook for 3 minutes or until the mozzarella slices are almost melted.
  • 10.   Meanwhile, wash, pat dry, and finely chop the fresh basil.
  • 11.   When the bruschettas are cooked, remove them from the oven and sprinkle them with chopped basil.
