French Toast-style Croque Monsieur

Here is an original way to make Croque Monsieur where they remain soft and moist. With a salad, it's a delight!

Instructions

  • 1.   Step 1:
  • 2.   Put the heavy cream in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

    Step 2:
  • 3.   Spread a little cream on the 8 slices of bread. Add some grated gruyère cheese, a slice of ham, and a slice of hamburger cheese on each slice of bread. Close with the remaining four slices of bread.

    Step 3:
  • 4.   In a wide bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk, salt, and pepper. Heat a frying pan with a little butter. Dip each Croque Monsieur in the mixture on both sides.

    Step 4:
  • 5.   Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side in the frying pan. Serve with salad.

Ingredients for servings

  • 3 eggs
  • 50 cl of milk
  • 4 slice of hamburger cheese
  • 1 pinch of gruyère
  • 8 slice of whole wheat sandwich bread
  • 1 tablespoon of thick sour cream
  • 4 slice of ham
  • salt (according to taste)
  • pepper (according to taste)
